General
For galas over 40 miles away (less for younger swimmers), a coach is usually arranged - departing near Mega Bowl. Please
make use of this service as it promotes team spirit. Supporters are welcome. Only club hats are allowed and preferably club
costumes (our costume colour is black). Don't forget that these and Club track suits, T shirts, sweatshirts etc are available at
low prices from the Swim Shop.
Club telephone
Coaches can be contacted on gala days, including Essex withdrawals on the day, on 07813311993. Please note this phone will
ONLY be available on gala days and will be switched off the rest of the time. Coaches must be notified IMMEDIATELY, for
example by email, if you have to withdraw from a gala; do NOT wait until the day of the gala if at all possible.
Gala Selection Policy
Mini League: Selection will be made from members who have not obtained the Essex qualifying time for their age group in the
year of competition.
Speedo, Trophy & B Team Galas: Teams will be selected to meet the specific requirements of the particular competition.
All Gala selection is entirely at the Coaches' discretion.
Open meets
Open meet guide
It has been agreed by the committee to reduce the amount of photocopying done for open meets. This will reduce the amount
of waste paper, and time, as well as being better for the environment. Swimmers will be notified by a hand out, on the notice
board and on our web site about open meets. All the information needed to enter the open meet will appear on the notice
board. Swimmers will be given the web site of the club holding the open meet, so swimmers can down load the appropriate
information. Entry forms can also be obtained from the Competitions Secretary (email). All entry forms and cheques, made
payable to Colchester Swimming Club, to be returned to Amanda by the appropriate closing date.
Swimmers can only enter Open meets hosted by other clubs, which have been approved by the Chief Coaches. (Masters may
enter any). Remember to wear Club attire and take your ASA Registration card. If you attend another club's meet, please
phone Chris Rootsey by Monday morning with the results, so she can get a report in the papers.
Essex & East Region events
Swimmers meeting the qualifying times can enter via the Chief Coaches, who will advise which races to enter. Remember to
wear Club attire, take your ASA Registration card and post your entry card before the stated time.
Essex Championships
Masters' swimming competitions
Entry forms and details of other events can normally be found on the Master's section on the Amateur Swimming Association
site. If any Masters swimmer wishes to submit reports of their events, this would be most welcome. If you phone or email
Chris Rootsey by Monday morning, she may be able to get a report in the papers.
